Welcome to Farmoon, a hidden gem nestled in the tranquil Sakyo Ward of Kyoto, Japan. This charming café embodies the spirit of serene dining and culinary artistry, making it a must-visit for any traveler seeking an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

Farmoon specializes in using fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local farms, which adds an authentic touch to every dish. As you step inside, you are immediately enveloped in a cozy atmosphere that feels inviting and personal, almost like being welcomed into a friend’s home. The décor is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and rustic charm, featuring beautiful objects and tools that enhance the unique dining ambiance.

Customers rave about their experiences at Farmoon, and it's no surprise why. One reviewer, Nicholas Brehany, describes it as "one of a kind" and insists that this meal was among the best he enjoyed while visiting Japan. The café offers a delightful prix fixe menu that promises to take you on a culinary journey through familiar and uncharted territories alike. As M. L. noted, the wine and sake pairings are perfection, expertly guiding you through each course.

For lunch, don't miss the chance to savor their exceptional porridge served with three thoughtfully curated side dishes. Each ingredient serves to elevate your dining experience, transforming simple offerings into extraordinary creations. As Aude Clerc puts it, "the dishes are taken to their most simple form and yet tasty," and you'll find yourself savoring each bite, captivated by the attention to detail.

Moreover, the café stands out not only for its exquisite offerings but also for the attentive service provided by the chef and dedicated staff. They go above and beyond to create a memorable visit, making guests feel at home. Renata Pagnucco appreciated the opportunity to engage with the chef, adding a personal touch that enriches the dining experience. This sense of connection is what makes Farmoon so special—it’s not just about the food; it’s about sharing a moment that feels profoundly intimate.

Surrounded by a quiet neighborhood not far from the Philosopher’s Path, Farmoon invites you to indulge in a culinary artwork that is truly a labor of love. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch or dining in the evening for a full culinary experience, every visit promises to be unique and gratifying.

As you plan your Kyoto adventure, make sure Farmoon is on your list. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience you won’t want to miss—one that lingers beautifully in your memory long after you’ve left.

A special place with so much attention to details, even in the toilet and hand wash areas! It’s a little art experience :) Went there just an hour before they close, tried porridge with three dishes. Would love to go back and experience their lunch menu. All local and fresh in season produce used. In a local quiet neighborhood not far from the philosopher’s path. Service is great, staff is able to communicate in English. Looking forward to a next visit soon!

We came for dinner, and it was our favorite experience out of one month of Japanese gastronomy ! Thanks again Masayo and team and hope to see you again in Japan, Arles or Sicily

A unique place. We not only enjoyed the food made out of fresh and singular ingredients not found elsewhere, but also talking to the chef and observing the beautiful building, with beautiful objects and tools. Would like to go back to have another out-of-this-world experience

If you have the chance to go for dinner, get ready for an amazing culinary experience. The prix fixe menu will carry you away in territories both familiar and uncharted. The wine and sake pairing was perfect. And the welcoming Chef and staff made it an exceptional experience. This is the kind of places you feel grateful to have experienced. Worth the trip from far away lands. Trust me. Thank you Chef Masayo Funakoshi, you are a true artist.

Such a unique and beautiful experience. They cook in front of you with simple and great ingredients. The dishes are taken to their most simple form and yet tasty. The atmosphere is very sereine. I could have watched them cook for hours. The lunch set was a rice pudding with 3 side dishes and a tea. You don’t want to miss on the dessert either. Everything was vegetarian but I think they also cook fish and meat. We came around 2pm on a Friday and there was no wait.
